When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. - Luke 23:33-34
What a loving God we serve!
When He was in great pain and when they were making fun of Him.
He said, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.
This causes me to think about whenever we get hurt. How do we react to it? do we say: ‘’Father forgive them they do not know what they are doing’’
or do we say: ‘’This person, Ill teach him/her a lesson’’
Lets try and be like Jesus. When someone hurts us we should be able to forgive and forget.
You know something, Jesus could actually kill everyone because of the pain he was going through. He didn’t! You know why? because he is LOVE.
When He was sent to come on earth. He knew what he was about to do.
God himself came in the form of a human being to save the world.
Why would God himself come in the form of a human being? Die on the cross? Get beaten? Why?
Because He wants YOU to have eternal life.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life - John 3:16
When we get back to the Old Testament, you will see that in those times when Jesus wasn’t born. They didn’t have the ultimate sacrifice which is Jesus. So they had to kill animals for their sins. Another obstacle between man and God was the Law. The Law kept human beings in the bondage of sin because nobody could keep its fullness and perfection.
Because of the Law, man became the slave of sin, and for this reason he could not come into contact with God. God is holy and men are sinners. They could not meet each other. Even today many people try to live good according to the standards of the world and universal law, but that is not enough for God. God will judge them based on the Law and they will be condemned eternally. In our eyes men do some good things, but we only see a small percentage of their inner and private lives.
What can make us free from the Law? The Bible says that Christ came to make us free from the Law. By believing in Him we are justified and by His grace we are forgiven. Galatians 5 teaches us that Christ came to set us free from the slavery of the Law: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by the yoke of slavery” Galatians 5:1.
The good news for us is that Christ took our sins upon Himself and by His grace He saved us. He represents us to the Father without any fault.
Prayer for today
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed. - Isaiah 53:3
1. Thank God for paying the price on the cross for you and I.
2. Thank God for paying the price for all flesh.
3. Thank God for the cross.
4. Pray that all may come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
5. Pray and appropriate the healing Jesus Christ brought us by His stripes for the sick.
In the name of Jesus Christ.
